The Orange Beach Water Authority was incorporated on August 6, 1968, to provide water, sewer, and fire protection services in southern Baldwin County, a portion of which has since been incorporated as the City of Orange Beach.

The system was originally constructed in 1972. Expansion of the Authority has followed growth and development in the Authority’s service area, which has been accomplished by acquisition of existing systems and construction of new facilities.
